Day 65

Today was testing day. In Texas they do this really dumb *&%())@ thing that we all can't stand. It's called the TASK test. It basically tests the teachers and depending on how well the kids do, that's how they base the school's rating and how much money they get. IT stresses the kids out to no end. Anyway, it starts in 3rd grade so this was our first year. My girls have been worried about this day for months. But this morning they felt pretty good and peaceful. I think all those prayers were working! We won't get the results back for a while, but they seem to think it went okay. Gary made breakfast for everyone.

PS, the boys are twins. Not identical, they are 16 months old and their Mom is 12 weeks pregnant! That is not a fake floor, it's her floor and yes, it's gorgeous. I may have to borrow her living room a few more times.

Nice photos--I love your plates. I was just commenting on this type of testing the other day. They put so much pressure on the kids, like their teachers' livelihoods depend on them. It's crazy!

I hate the task tests. They are doing something similar here this week in NM all they do is teach to the test. What a beautiful floor in yesterdays photos.

Oh, don't you just hate those testing days? It's so stressful. I like your shots of everyday life today.

Amy said...

Nice "everyday life" shots - the kind you treasure in years to come. And my word, do your girls look alike!

Amy said...

Duh! Just went back and read that they're twins. I guess they would look alike. :)

We have testing like that in Maine too, and its awful. I don't know why they can't just let kids LEARN they way they should without the added stress. I hope they aren't too worried about it. I am sure they will do fine.
